I live in River Ridge, Louisiana, about 5 miles from downtown New Orleans. I built my Texas Greenhouse in 1995 to house my Orchids my pride and joys. We stayed in Houston with family in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. When the parish let us back in, we raced back to survey the damage. The first sounds to greet us was the fans of the greenhouse. We have power! I climbed over piles of limbs and debris in the backyard. The greenhouse stood there shining in the hot sun, protecting the orchids… Thank you for building a greenhouse that can survive a category 5 hurricane.

My greenhouse was exposed to the eyewall of Hurricane Ivan & Dennis. The eyewall of both passed over the greenhouse. It was exposed to estimates of 100 mph winds for 45 minutes or longer both times. The hurricanes took out my neighbor’s barns & roof tops, 100 pecan trees but not my Texas Greenhouse!
